![]() ![]() MARTIN HINDMARSH MARTIN HINDMARSH took over as Conductor/Chorus Master of the Hull Choral Union in 2002 following the retirement of Alan Spedding. Martin graduated from Birmingham University with a first class degree in Music and went on the take a Master's degree in Opera Studies. For a number of years he sang with the BBC Northern Singers. His solo career in opera and on the concert platform includes a wide range of roles. He performs regularly in Bayreuth at the annual Wagner Festival. Martin lectured in music at the University of Sheffield for over 30 years. He directed the choirs and orchestras, and for the last few years was the Director of Performance. Martin is both composer and arranger; his own works including songs, carols, a setting of Psalm 150 and The Isle is Full of Noises, a setting of words from The Tempest. His wide conducting experience includes orchestral as well as choral music and he was Founder/Director of Cantico. He served as Musical Director of South Yorkshire Opera and was Chorus Master of the BBC Northern/Britten Singers. Now a totally freelance musician, Martin is pursuing his conducting and singing activities from his new home in Surrey. |
